However, caution is warranted — as noted by several patrons, these empanadas are not for the faint-hearted! With grease-laden goodness and flavor explosions in every bite, it's a party for the senses. But perhaps it's best to tackle the deliciousness with a friend on the buddy system, just in case you need a moment to recuperate after the indulgence.
In conclusion, Empanadas Monumental New York offers a unique blend of authentic taste, hearty portions, and an inviting atmosphere, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area. Be sure to bring your appetite and an open mind — you’re in for a truly monumental culinary experience!

This is college drinking food at its best. Almost everything is gorgeously deep fried and oily as hell. The starches are excellent for absorbing alcohol. And at $3.25 or $3.50 for a large, well-filled empanada, it must be the best bang for your buck anywhere in Manhattan. I'm personally very partial to the berenjena y queso (eggplant and cheese) version, which has a lovely, creamy filling, and the pollo/queso/crema/maiz version, where all the components are in perfect balance. For more deep fried deliciousness, the bolas de yuca and caprichos are just as they should be: beautifully crisp and golden on the outside, creamy on the inside with generous amounts of filling. And of course, I still love the patacon and cachapas, but only when divested of the creamy orange goop on top. If you forget to ask for your food without sauce, everything comes drowned in an inedibly large volume of the stuff. Health food this is not. In fact, I feel like this food should be eaten on the buddy system only: Have someone on hand to call 911 for you in case it induces cardiac arrest. Off to detox with a kale-ginger-cucumber drink. I feel... a little......... faint.............

I walked in a was amazed a how home-like the place looked. The lady working was very nice and the service was quick. Good prices and good empanadas which are always a plus

Great Empanadas. Reasonably priced and they are surprisingly huge. Delicious and a great value.

I ordered a variety of empanadas and they all tasted great, they are all nice and fluffy and not too soaked with grease. I also orders one the sandwiches with chicken and it tasted nice and fresh. And their prices are very cheap, would definitely eat at again.

Today was my first time going to Empanadas Monumental!!!!! I had a chicken burrito which was SUPER DELICIOUS! I went back and bought 5 more for my family!!!! There were peppers, onions, Lettuce, tomatoes, and a yummy sauce made of mayonnaise and ketchup. I will be going back to try other dishes!! Oh and it has corn!!

This is my go to empanada place that's nearby. The empanada satisfy my fatty and fried food cravings. Each empanada is $2 and they have other Spanish dishes. The staff have always been pleasant and diligent. Not sure why but today is the first time I had to wait because they had none available right away. Besides that I had another good experience here.

Stopped by one early afternoon with a severe empanada craving! They have a nice selection of empanadas. I order the corn, chicken and cheese which was very tasty. I also got the ropa vieja which was also delicious and perfectly seasoned. I loved that this was even an option as I'm not a huge fan of ground beef.

I was getting some work done on my apartment, and it was around lunch time that day. Appreciative of the workers, I decided to get some food for all of us. I was looking for a different flavor, and Empanadas Monumental sounded like the right choice. After perusing through their menu, I decided to get empanadas of four different flavors: beef, beef with cheese, chicken, and shrimp. The wait time for delivery was reasonable. The empanadas were bigger than expected, and they were delicious! They were made with generous meat portions, and there was enough food for the three of us. This place is a gem, and I will most definitely order from here again the next time I crave a taste of South America.
